Barbaresco | Classic
Barbaresco is, next to Barolo, probably the most famous wine of Piedmont. Like Barolo, Barbaresco is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes. The production area in the Langhe includes the vineyards around the towns of Barbaresco, Treiso and Neive. One of the differences with its 'big brother' is the terroir: the hills of Barbaresco are slightly lower than those of the Barolo area and have a different soil composition. The wines produced there tend to be slightly less powerful and more velvety on the palate - which has also earned Barbaresco the nickname 'wine of the queen'. Barbaresco is still overshadowed by its big brother and is often underestimated. Unjustly, as evidenced not only by the consistently good price-quality ratio. - Gerardo
