Favorita | Grape variety
The Piedmontese white wine Langhe Favorita is produced from the grape variety of the same name. This is grown today only on a vanishingly small area of about 40 hectares in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti and Cuneo. Often dismissed as a table grape and blended wine, a few winemakers are currently striving to produce upscale, single varietal Langhe Favorita wines. Recent DNA analysis revealed that the Favorita grape variety is identical to the Vermentino and Pigato varieties. - Gerardo [TS06/23]
