Magliocco | Grape variety

The Magliocco grape variety is a fascinating discovery from the sunny vineyards of Calabria. As one of the oldest indigenous grape varieties in the region, it embodies the rich wine tradition and unique terroir of southern Italy. Magliocco is more than just a grape - it is a symbol of the authenticity and diversity of the Calabrian wine landscape. - Gerardo [TS03/24]

´Magno Megonio´ · Val di Neto Rosso IGT 2021, Librandi, Kalabrien

Magno Megonio · Val di Neto Rosso IGT 2021

Librandi, Calabria

The Magno Megonio gives itself in the aroma of tobacco, black berries and vanilla, along with fine red fruits and spices. Dry, heavy and velvety on the palate with an abundance of berries, tobacco, wood and foliage. The tannin is combined with a playful fruit sweetness, making it barely noticeable, and the finish is pleasantly warm and long. The almost extinct grape variety Magliocco has been revived and once again proves the full potential of Calabria. - Gerardo [TS06/22]

"Eighty percent of the 2009 Magliocco Magno Megonio has been aged in barrique, from which it has emerged with a lush nose of fruit and spice and a juicy, appealing flavor." - Slow Wine

"Dark and intense ruby red. Aromas of red fruits, bomberries, watermelon, then spicy notes of blond tobacco, light turmeric and Mediterranean notes of myrtle. In the taste phase it has a medium texture, with refined tannins and a good acidity that makes the progression elegant and the finish persistent." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)
