Ottavianello | Grape variety
The southern Italian grape variety Ottavianello is native to Apulia and is mainly responsible for the production of the single-varietal red wine Ottavianello di Ostuni DOC. Despite its outstanding qualities, this grape variety is rather unknown in this country. Interestingly, there are hundreds of synonyms for Ottavianello, such as Cinsault in France. This indicates not only the great age of this grape variety, but also its wide distribution over the centuries.
