'De Piano', the old Latin name for Eppan, is the namesake for the first red wine cuvée of St. Michael-Eppan from the grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet, both of which have been native to the vineyards of South Tyrol since 1850. For the 'De Piano' they are vinified separately. The blend takes place after one year of aging in wooden barrels. The soft tannins of the Merlot and the strength of the Cabernet make this wine highly sought after by discerning wine lovers. - Gerardo [TS06/19]
