Villa Raiano | Campania
The Irpinia, an incomparable piece of southern Italy, wild and atypical, the so-called 'figlia del lupo'. In Raiano di Serino, where the family oil mill has stood since time immemorial, the new winery Villa Raiano was built in 2009. Surrounded by vineyards and woods, the winery overlooks a valley that the Sabato River has carved into the landscape over the millennia. Only selected autochthonous grape varieties grow on the 27 hectares of vineyards owned by the winery. Most of the production is currently devoted to the white varieties Falanghina, Fiano and Greco, while a single huge vineyard (9 hectares) is dedicated to the cultivation of the red Aglianico. The entire vineyard area of Villa Raiano is included in the three major DOCG areas of Irpinia: Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Taurasi. - Gerardo [TS03/23]
