In this article, we explore the sophisticated world of drinking temperatures for Italian wine, from white wine to Prosecco and sweet wines.

White wine
The lightness and freshness of an Italian white wine are best appreciated at a temperature between 8 and 12 degrees Celsius. At this ideal temperature, the fine acid structure unfolds and the fruity aromas emerge clearly without being affected by the cold.

Rosé wine
Rosé wine, with its charming blend of fruitiness and structure, should be enjoyed slightly chilled at around 10 to 14 degrees Celsius. This temperature brings out the delicate aromas while retaining the wine's pleasant freshness.

Red wine
A temperature of between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius is recommended for a classic Italian red wine. At this temperature, the complex aromas of berries, spices and tannins unfold in all their depth and the wine shows its best side.

Heavy red wine
For heavy red wines with an intense structure and a long finish, such as Barolo or Amarone, a slightly higher temperature of between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius is recommended. This allows the complex aromas to develop slowly and the tannins to integrate smoothly.

Prosecco and sparkling wine
Prosecco and sparkling wine, which are considered refreshing sparkling wines, should be enjoyed well chilled at around 6 to 8 degrees Celsius. This low temperature emphasizes the lively perlage and fruity freshness of the wines.

Sweet wines
Sweet wines, whether sweet or semi-sweet, develop their sweet fullness best at a temperature between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius. This warmth brings out the sweet aromas without neglecting the freshness.
