Wine by Price | 150-175 Euros

The price of a bottle of Italian wine is just as broad as the range of grapes and wine varieties: from simple wines by the glass around five euros, to good drinking wines in the price range between five and ten euros, to premium wines whose prices know no bounds. Not only the quality of the used grapes, the kind and the craft skill of the wine production as well as the development play a role. The number of bottles produced also has an impact on the price of the wine. Expensive wine icons are usually only produced in small quantities, whereas wines that accompany food are produced in much larger numbers. - Gerardo

´Puer Apuliae´ · Nero di Troia Riseva DOC 2014 (6er Holzkiste), Rivera, Apulien

Puer Apuliae · Nero di Troia Riseva DOC 2014 (6er Holzkiste)

Rivera, Puglia

Six bottles of Nero di Troia Riserva Puer Apuliae in a high quality original wooden box with sliding lid:

"Rich, deep dark ruby. Opens with rich, intense nose, smells of leather, pickled nuts, also pickled cherries and plums, seductive. On the palate the wine is dense and deep, opens with tightly woven, present tannins, polished and elegant at the core, spreads out nicely, reverberating with cherry and cranberry, long." - Falstaff

'This nicely oaky style brims with sappy blackberry and cassis fruit, revealing hints of mocha, dried mint and black licorice. This is enlivened by bright, focused acidity and a subtle streak of minerality. Medium-bodied, with a fresh, spiced finish." - Wine Spectator

'This more structured, concentrated version of Nero di Troia opens with aromas of allspice, mature black fruit, violet and a whiff of leather. The bold palate delivers ripe black cherry, black pepper, grilled herb, vanilla and a chocolate note alongside big, velvety tannins." - Wine Enthusiast

'The 2009 Castel del Monte Nero di Troia Puer Apuliae is one of the top wines from Puglia today in terms of pedigree and sophistication. The bouquet is seamless and dense with a beautiful sense of varietal pureness. It is a pure expression of Nero di Troia (aged in oak for 14 months) with a plentiful bouquet of dark cherry, blackberry, licorice, cola, pressed flowers and grilled herbs. The floral component is its most compelling characteristic. Smooth tannins and bright acidity give the wine a sense of integrity and persistency. Many reds from Puglia can taste jammy and heavy. This wine however delivers elegance and focus." - Robert Parker

´I Sodi di S. Niccolò´ · MAGNUM IGT 2018 (1er Holzkiste), Castellare di Castellina, Toskana
I Sodi di S. Niccolò · MAGNUM IGT 2018 (1er Holzkiste)

Castellare di Castellina, Tuscany

A magnum bottle of I Sodi di San Niccolo from Castellare di Castellina in an original wooden box with sliding lid::

I Sodi di San Niccolo - the flagship of Castellare di Castellina - comes from the vineyard around the church of San Niccolo: this almost pure Sangioveto (Sangiovese) is complemented with Malvasia Nera, both from vines almost 30 years old. The color is an intense ruby red with garnet highlights. The aroma is fruity and reminiscent of wild berries, underlined by spices and some vanilla. This wine reached the top 100 of Wine Specator magazine several times and also received the coveted award of 3 glasses in the wine guide Gambero Rosso.

Barren soils are a basic requirement for high quality wines. Therefore, the sites where the vine has to fight for water and food are the most sought-after for Tuscan winemakers. The sites called 'i sodi' are in complete contrast to the 'campi', the fields. On the 'sodi' grow the most dense and refined wines. - Gerardo [TS11/19]
