Kalterersee Classico | Classic
The Kalterer See wine-growing region is officially very large, but true connoisseurs particularly appreciate the classic core area with its traditional vineyards. These are all located in the immediate vicinity of the lake and benefit from the unique microclimate, which is crucial for the quality of the wines. One of the most renowned vineyards is the Bischofsleiten site of the Castell Sallegg winery in St. Josef am See, which has always been known for its particularly characterful wines.
Kalterersee is made almost exclusively from the indigenous Vernatsch grape variety, which plays an important role in red wine production in South Tyrol. The wines are a bright raspberry red and impress with their delicate fruitiness, reminiscent of ripe raspberries, complemented by an elegant herbal spice. On the palate, they are smooth and balanced, with soft tannins, subtle acidity, and an unmistakable almond tone on the finish. Kalterersee thus combines tradition and drinking pleasure in a particularly harmonious way. - Gerardo [TS09/25]
"The 'Kalterersee Charta" - the seal of approval for one of the most popular red wines: a great name for a project that no one in Kaltern would have thought possible ten years ago. Black on white it is now in the preamble of the charter:
'We the member wineries of wein.kaltern, commit ourselves to fill our best Kalterersee wines under the quality seal Kalterersee-Charta and to conscientiously comply with the following agreement for the quality and image promotion of Kalterersee and to control accordingly. For us, Kalterersee is a modern, area-typical and unique red wine.'
In the climate of great successes during the first years of joint work in the wein.kaltern project, the conviction developed among the partner wineries and in the entire village that combined efforts can mean the decisive competitive edge. An impressive sign of this: the Kalterersee Charter." - wein.kaltern
