Cortese | Grape variety
The Cortese grape variety is deeply rooted in southern Piedmont and is best known for the elegant white wine Gavi. It thrives particularly well in the calcareous and clayey soils around Gavi, where the mild climate and sea breeze create ideal conditions. Cortese wines are characterized by freshness, fine acidity and a clear aroma profile with notes of citrus, green apple and white flowers. They are usually matured in stainless steel tanks to preserve the lightness and minerality typical of the variety.
On the palate, the wines are light to medium-bodied, with a fine texture and elegant structure. They are versatile accompaniments to Mediterranean cuisine, especially fish and seafood. Despite their subtle aromas, Cortese wines impress with their precision and terroir expression. A symbol of stylish, authentic white wines from Piedmont, Cortese remains a timeless classic with subtle sophistication. - Gerardo [TS05/25]
