Baron di Pauli - A winemaking tradition spanning three centuries
The Baron di Pauli winery is much more than a simple wine producer: it is synonymous with a symbiosis of history, passion and uncompromising quality. For over three centuries, the winery has stood for exceptional wines, whose reputation once reached as far as the courts of emperors and tsars. Baron di Pauli was already known as a purveyor to the court during the imperial and royal era, and its outstanding quality was even appreciated at the Tsar's court in St. Petersburg. This tradition lives on to this day, even if the wines are now intended for other customers - wines for special moments and people who are looking for something special.
The philosophy: Quality without compromise
Wines full of character are not created by chance. The pursuit of the highest quality characterizes every step, from the care of the vines to bottling. In the vineyard, the focus is deliberately on low yields so that the strength of the vine remains concentrated on just a few grapes. These are harvested exclusively by hand to ensure the utmost care and quality. Behind every wine is a dedicated team that shares a passion for viticulture and a desire for perfection.
The terroir: unique soils and climatic diversity
The quality of the wines begins with the soils and the climate, which together create an unmistakable foundation. The Mediterranean climate of South Tyrol, the gentle influences of Lake Kaltern and the nightly cooling by alpine air currents form a perfect balance. The work on the estate's two vineyards is based on these conditions: the 9-hectare Arzenhof near Kaltern and the 5-hectare Höfl unterm Stein in Söll near Tramin. The soils vary from place to place and give the wines a special depth and diversity.
Time as a decisive factor
Time is a precious commodity in viticulture that should not be underestimated. Grapes are only harvested when they have reached optimum ripeness. The wine also sets the pace in the cellar - here it determines when elegance and finesse are fully developed. The result of this patience can be seen in wines that often come onto the market later than is usual in South Tyrol. But it is precisely this maturity that makes them special: they achieve their inner balance, which they retain over many years.
Mature wines for conscious enjoyment
Some of Baron di Pauli's wines offer an impressive depth of vintage, which makes it possible to experience their development over the years. Such wines demand attention and a willingness to engage with their complexity. They are not meant to be enjoyed quickly, but reward those who give them time.
A legacy of history
Baron di Pauli remains true to its claim of creating wines that tell stories - stories of tradition, dedication and the unique connection between man and nature. The wines are a testimony to the historical significance and modern interpretation of viticulture in South Tyrol. Every drop reflects the pursuit of perfection and invites you to rediscover the centuries-old tradition of Baron di Pauli in every glass. - Gerardo [TS11/24]
