Blog: Concilio - Cantina di Trento | Trentino-South Tyrol

The origins of Concilio date back to 1860. At that time, Angelo Grigolli decided to sell wine that came from the Adige Valley to the inhabitants of the small Trentino hamlet of Mori and the surrounding area. For more than a hundred years, the Grigolli production plant and wine trading house developed according to this entrepreneurial idea of their founder. In 1972, the Grigolli company merged with Cantina Boschi & Gamberoni, giving rise to the joint company name Concilio.

The last significant change in the company structure was finally made in 1990 with the entry of various cooperatives, including the Le Meridiane winery. In the huge production halls, about 6 million bottles of wine of the most important Trentino grape varieties are stored and filled every year. That despite these considerable quantities at Concilio Vini also the quality does not come too briefly, prove among other things the fruity Chardonnay and Nosiola of the house, as well as some expressive red wines like e.g. the Marzemino, the Merlot or the Cabernet.

Over time, the Cantina has become one of the most important producers of quality Trentino wines. Alfredo Albertini's team coordinates the work of about 400 family members, whose vineyards extend over the hills around Trento, Valsugana and Vallagarina, near Lake Garda. At the gates of the city, the grapes harvested are processed in a modern cellar that combines state-of-the-art technology with sustainable production criteria. The greatest attention and passion is given to the native grape varieties such as Marzemino or Teroldego, but a central role is also played by white varieties, which are the reason for the Cantina's good reputation beyond the regional borders.

The best Chardonnay grapes are used to produce the noble Trento DOC, whose success in recent years has been registered with pride by all involved. Special mention should also be made of the Mori Vecio Riserva, the iconic red wine that has been produced for more than a century in the style of great Bordeaux cuvees from the two Cabernet varieties in combination with Merlot and refined for the most part in French oak barrels. In this way, the Cantina offers still and sparkling wines that satisfy all desires and tastes and enrich every occasion with their versatility. - Gerardo [TS04/23]
