Rosso di Montalcino | Classic
Rosso di Montalcino is a so-called second wine, which is produced during the production of Brunello di Montalcino. If the wine does not meet the high quality requirements of a Brunello, winemakers can sell it as Rosso, so that their work still bears fruit. However, this is by no means a “second choice” wine - Rosso di Montalcino often comes surprisingly close to the renowned Grand Vin from Montalcino in terms of quality and character. It is subject to similar, albeit less stringent, regulations as Brunello, may only be grown in the municipality of Montalcino in the province of Siena, and is protected by the DOC seal of origin. It is also made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, one of the most important and best-known grape varieties in Italy and the world.
Compared to Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso matures for a shorter period and is slightly lighter in body. It is fruitier and fresher, with a ruby red color and an accessible, elegant bouquet. These characteristics make it an ideal choice for wine lovers who want to experience the typical character of a high-class Montalcino wine without having to invest a large budget. Rosso di Montalcino combines tradition, quality, and drinking pleasure in a particularly charming way. - Gerardo
