Riesling | Grape variety

Riesling grows in all German wine-growing regions and occupies a vineyard area of almost 23,000 hectares. The grape variety represents German wine culture like no other. In Italy, too - preferably in South Tyrol and Piedmont - winemakers are increasingly trying their hand at cultivating and developing the grape variety. Sometimes with astonishing results and good success. It should be noted, however, that Italian Riesling due to the different climate and terroir - so very different from the well-known German Riesling. This is also because often (but not always) so-called Welschriesling is used - which has nothing in common with the 'white Riesling' from Germany.

The young and fruity Riesling is an ideal summer wine, aperitif and wine for any occasion. Strong and matured Rieslings are more suitable as a food companion. In this respect, Riesling goes particularly well with steamed sea and freshwater fish, boiled meat with light sauces and small domestic fowl.
