Medici Ermete is at home in Emilia Romagna. There, where for centuries the real Lambrusco is also native. Since its foundation, the winery has been dedicated to the production of Lambrusco and sparkling wines, and over the years the team of oenologists has built up a special wealth of experience and know-how, passed down from generation to generation and constantly evolving.

Along the road 'Via Emilia', in Gaida, lies the winery. Just a few kilometers from the vineyards located in the DOC Reggiano in the foothills of the Apennines south of Modena. Here the best growing conditions prevail: In the permeable gravelly soils, the vines root deeply, building up in this way a high resistance and ensuring stable yields. The position on the northern slopes delays ripening and produces grapes and wines with moderate sugar content and fresh acidity, the perfect counterpart to the strong cuisine of Emilia Romagna. The short maceration times, which serve to extract color rather than tannins, and the constant temperatures during fermentation support an upbeat, effervescent lightness.

Medici Ermete produces both sparkling and still wines and excellent Aceto Balsamico and Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale. However, the winery is best known for its Lambrusco, and the house is now almost synonymous with this sparkling red wine. In its DOC wines, Medici Ermete uncompromisingly adheres to the strictest quality guidelines, such as low yields far below DOC regulations, and this commitment is regularly rewarded with top honors by the trade press. This also applies to the dry variants, such as the 'Concerto Lambrusco Reggiano', which has now received the highest award of three glasses in the Gambero Rosso for the seventh time in a row.

The winery has been producing Lambrusco since the end of the 19th century, making it the oldest company in the Reggio Emilia region. - Gerardo [TS06/22]
