Fattoria Uccelliera was born at the end of the 60s from the passion for the land and the woods of Antonio Bulleri and Maria Elena Poggianti. Today, two generations work on the farm and the third has already begun to make its welcome contribution in the non-school season.
Each plays a different role in the company and all are involved in strategic decisions. What characterizes the hillside estate (the famous 'Poggi'), in addition to the vineyards and olive groves - some of which are hundreds of years old - are the tall woods, the extensive plantings of Populus Alba and the farmland, which is extensively cultivated, primarily to provide a natural but also rich environment for wildlife.
The cellar, which serves the production, and the numerous farmhouses, intended for agrotourism, have been restored with mainly antique materials to preserve those architectural features that have appreciated Tuscany in general. The buildings, with their antique charm, nestled in an unspoiled environment, blend into the landscape and give a pleasant feeling of peace and serenity. - Gerardo
The history of Chianti coincides with the abolition of the 'mezzadria' in 1962, it is the medieval form of sharecropping, whereby peasants farmed the lands for the local nobility. In 1967 Chianti obtained the DOC designation of origin, which was subsequently modified several times. A significant advance was the abandonment of the addition of white wine to Chianti production. white wine was added at that time as a diluent to obtain a consumer wine. After that, nothing stood in the way of the rise of the former peasant wine, it became internationally respectable. - Gerardo [TS12/22]
