Elena Walch | Alto Adige
Elena Walch is a shining example of the harmonious combination of tradition, innovation, and sustainable quality in South Tyrolean viticulture. Originally an architect, Elena Walch took over responsibility for the vineyards in 1985 and has since shaped the family winery with her visionary spirit. Together with her daughters Julia and Karoline, she runs the estate, which now covers 55 hectares of vineyards, including the traditional single vineyards Castel Ringberg and Kastelaz. There, vines grow in challenging, steep locations, whose character is precisely reflected in the wines.
The winery's guiding principle is parcel selection (“Vigna”) combined with a deep respect for nature. In the cellar, gentle techniques are used, including a modern fermentation cellar where grapes are processed particularly gently. The range combines high-quality white wines such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer with expressive red wines such as Lagrein, Pinot Noir (Pinot Nero), and Cabernet Sauvignon. A particular highlight is the Pinot Noir Riserva Aton, which perfectly combines finesse, depth, and expressiveness. - Gerardo [TS12/25]
