Falkenstein | South Tyrol
In the heart of Naturns on the Sonnenberg rises the Falkenstein Winery - a tranquil family business that creates wines full of character with a clear vision and passionate commitment. At altitudes between 600 and 900 meters, the vines thrive on steep south and southwest slopes, where Mediterranean sunlight and alpine coolness meet. The result is expressive wines with deep minerality, lively acidity, and remarkable longevity.
The history of Falkenstein is one of courage and new beginnings: in the 1990s, the Pratzner family gave up apple growing to devote themselves entirely to wine. Since then, white wines such as Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Noir have been produced on 14 hectares of vineyards. The wines are carefully crafted—long yeast contact, aging in large acacia wood barrels and barriques, and at least one year of bottle aging give the wines depth, finesse, and an unmistakable regional character. - Gerardo [TS12/25]
