The Irpinia is a rough, fascinating piece of southern Italy - pristine, powerful, characterized by an untamed beauty. It is often referred to as the “figlia del lupo”, the daughter of the wolf - an allusion to its wild nature and deeply rooted identity. In Raiano di Serino, where the family has always run an oil mill, the modern Villa Raiano winery was built in 2009. Surrounded by vineyards and dense forests, the winery towers over a valley that has been shaped by the River Sabato over thousands of years. This impressive backdrop is reflected in the winery's philosophy: originality and respect for the terroir determine everything it does.
The 27 hectares of vineyards belonging to the winery are planted exclusively with indigenous grape varieties - a conscious commitment to the identity of the region. The focus is clearly on the white grape varieties Falanghina, Fiano and Greco, which impress with their freshness and complexity. Only one large vineyard of nine hectares is dedicated to the powerful red wine Aglianico, from which the long-lasting Taurasi wines are made. All of Villa Raiano's vineyards are located within the three renowned DOCG areas of Irpinia: Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Taurasi - a geographical and qualitative anchoring that speaks for the depth, elegance and authenticity of the wines. - Gerardo [TS05/25]
