Vermentino di Sardegna is one of the preferred white wine varieties and is the most widespread white grape variety in Sardinia. There are different varieties of Vermentino depending on the growing region:

One of these varieties, Vermentino di Mejlogu, comes from the Bonnanaro wine-growing region in the province of Sassari and is considered to be particularly full-bodied. The province of Olbia-Tempio is home to Vermentino di Berchidda, which originates from the Berchidda area. Also from the province of Sassari is the Vermentino di Alghero, a straw-yellow wine with greenish reflections, which is pleasantly aromatic and has a dry, fresh and lively taste. It is ideal as an aperitif, with fish starters or white meat and reaches around 12 to sometimes 14-15% alcohol. Other notable varieties include Vermentino della Romangia, di Monti, S'Eleme, di Sorso, di Berchidda, Badesi, Usini and Luras. Vermentino di Gallura, which comes from numerous municipalities in the Gallura region in the province of Sassari and from two municipalities in the province of Nuoro, is particularly well-known and appreciated. Last but not least, Vermentino di Sardegna can come from the entire region of the island of Sardinia, without a specific place of origin.

The Aragosta from Cantina Santa Maria la Palma is considered the most prominent representative of Sardinian white wine. This is due not least to its consistent quality management and successful brand image. With its unmistakable distinguishing mark, the lobster, Aragosta has become synonymous with Sardinian white wine and Vermentino in particular over the decades.
