In terms of cellar technology, the winery was largely perfected in the 1970s and 1980s, so that hardly any new developments can be noted here, apart from the fact that the return to systematic wood barrel aging of the most important wines also represents a significant innovation. All red wines, as well as Lageder's full-bodied whites, have more or less pronounced wood contact, and Lageder was incidentally the first in South Tyrol to ferment a Chardonnay in barrique with his famous Löwengang. In addition to the white and red wines from Löwengang, which today represent Lageder's top range, the other site wines should not be forgotten.

With Haberlehof, Tannhammerhof, the outstanding Benefizium Porer, Lindenburg, and Oberingramhof, Lageder has a number of wines that stand out for their absolute quality. For some years now, the jewel of the house has been the Cabernet Sauvignon from Römigberg, which has struck fear into the hearts of even noble Tuscan wines in many a blind tasting. It proves the still largely undiscovered quality potential of South Tyrol's vineyards. By carrying this message to Italy, but also to other European and non-European countries, Lageder embodies the undisputed leadership in his growing region. - Gerardo [TS02/23]
