Eredi Fuligni | Tuscany
The small, family-run winery around the Renaissance monastery courtyard has existed since 1923. The current owners, the smart professor Roberto Guerrini-Fuligni and his aunt Maria Flora Fuligni restored the old property lovingly and with a lot of heart and soul. Thus, the aesthetic clarity of the 16th century shines in full splendor, rarely can you find more beautiful tasting rooms in the wine scene.
The noble-looking labels of the winery represent the lion of San Marco, which is part of the family coat of arms and refers to Venetian origins. The wines all come from the ten hectares of vineyards owned by the family, and Fuligni produces only top-quality wines. - Gerardo [TS06/22]
"This historic winery in Montalcino has been managed for several years by Roberto Guerrini-Fuligni, an esteemed figure in the area. He is a passionate music lover, knows the best orchestras in the world, is a professor and vice-rector at the University of Siena and conveys all this in his elegant wines of great class, never sharp. His vineyards are located in the upper Canalicchio area, on the north side of Montalcino. The style is neoclassical with moderate use of tonnaus barrels, especially for the Brunello Riserva wines." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)

San Jacopo (S.J.) · Rosso Toscana IGT 2020Eredi Fuligni, Tuscany
S.J. is a newer label and is classified as a high quality IGT wine: 'San Jacopo' ('S.J.') is a blend of mainly Sangiovese, which comes from the winery's clones, and a small amount of Merlot, which also comes from the Bandita vineyards. Aged for a few months in French oak barrels, it immediately shows a slightly softer effect, but retains the brilliant character and freshness of Sangiovese. - Gerardo [TS06/21]

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016Eredi Fuligni, Tuscany
In the best vintages, Fuligni produces a Brunello Riserva that, by law, matures for five years, of which about three and a half years in wood. The grapes come from the oldest vineyards and the Brunello produced from them certainly has characteristics of extreme longevity and concentration, but it immediately reveals its quality and pleasantness necessary for an evolution that can last for many decades, depending on the conditions of conservation. - Gerardo [TS06/17]
