Eredi Fuligni | Tuscany

The small, family-run winery Fuligni around the Renaissance monastery courtyard has existed since 1923. The current owners, the smart professor Roberto Guerrini-Fuligni and his aunt Maria Flora Fuligni restored the old property lovingly and with a lot of heart and soul. Thus, the aesthetic clarity of the 16th century shines in full splendor, rarely can you find more beautiful tasting rooms in the wine scene.

The noble-looking labels of the winery represent the lion of San Marco, which is part of the family coat of arms and refers to Venetian origins. The wines all come from the ten hectares of vineyards owned by the family, and Fuligni produces only top-quality wines. - Gerardo [TS06/22]

"This historic winery in Montalcino has been managed for several years by Roberto Guerrini-Fuligni, an esteemed figure in the area. He is a passionate music lover, knows the best orchestras in the world, is a professor and vice-rector at the University of Siena and conveys all this in his elegant wines of great class, never sharp. His vineyards are located in the upper Canalicchio area, on the north side of Montalcino. The style is neoclassical with moderate use of tonnaus barrels, especially for the Brunello Riserva wines." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)

San Jacopo (S.J.) · Rosso Toscana IGT 2020

Eredi Fuligni, Tuscany

S.J. is a newer label and is classified as a high quality IGT wine: 'San Jacopo' ('S.J.') is a blend of mainly Sangiovese, which comes from the winery's clones, and a small amount of Merlot, which also comes from the Bandita vineyards. Aged for a few months in French oak barrels, it immediately shows a slightly softer effect, but retains the brilliant character and freshness of Sangiovese. - Gerardo [TS06/21]

"Medium ruby garnet. In the nose cherry, sloe, spices, discreetly of shoe polish. Elegant on the palate with a harmonious structure, ripe tannins and medium, suitable length. Cedar and spice notes in the finish." - Falstaff

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017, Eredi Fuligni, Toskana

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017

Eredi Fuligni, Tuscany

Fuligni's Brunello matures, as required by law, for 4 years, of which two, sometimes even three years, in wood. This Brunello has the characteristic of excellent longevity, but is also accessible for early enjoyment. The Brunello of Fuligni is an elegant synthesis of fruit scent and spice. This wine is the result of high quality grapes, coming from low yields per hectare and produced in small quantities only in good years. - Gerardo [TS06/18]

"Classic ruby red with a tendency to garnet. The aromas on the nose are clear and powerful, of tobacco, conifer, cherries and medlars. The palate is of medium texture, with lean tannins and good acidity. Elegant wine with an intense finish." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)

"Bright, powerful ruby with a pronounced garnet rim. Opens with light malty notes, then ripe plums, some dried porcini mushrooms and tomatoes, multilayered. Opens on the palate with hearty, dense tannins, firm and deep, salty and long in the finish." - Falstaff

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016, Eredi Fuligni, Toskana
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016

Eredi Fuligni, Tuscany

In the best vintages, Fuligni produces a Brunello Riserva that, by law, matures for five years, of which about three and a half years in wood. The grapes come from the oldest vineyards and the Brunello produced from them certainly has characteristics of extreme longevity and concentration, but it immediately reveals its quality and pleasantness necessary for an evolution that can last for many decades, depending on the conditions of conservation. - Gerardo [TS06/17]

"Intense and brilliant ruby red. The aromas on the nose are intense and elegant, with notes of cherries that vary but are never warm, slightly spicy and yellow peach. The palate is elegant and progressive, with fine tannins and a nice spiciness. The finish is as persistent as elegant." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)

"Rich ruby garnet, slightly lightening rim. Compact nose with notes of blackberry, dark wild raspberry and lots of clove. On the palate stoffig and compact, presents itself with densely meshed tannin, pithy, in between again and again fine melting, dark fruit, in the final very weighty." - Falstaff
