Wine by Price | 130-140 Euros

The price of a bottle of Italian wine is just as broad as the range of grapes and wine varieties: from simple wines by the glass around five euros, to good drinking wines in the price range between five and ten euros, to premium wines whose prices know no bounds. Not only the quality of the used grapes, the kind and the craft skill of the wine production as well as the development play a role. The number of bottles produced also has an impact on the price of the wine. Expensive wine icons are usually only produced in small quantities, whereas wines that accompany food are produced in much larger numbers. - Gerardo

´Appius´ · Südtirol Weiß DOC 2019 (1er Holzkiste), St. Michael-Eppan, Südtirol

Appius · Südtirol Weiß DOC 2019 (1er Holzkiste)

St. Michael-Eppan, South Tyrol

For many years Hans Terzer has carried the idea of his dream wine in his heart, now it has become reality. Fully ripe grapes, minimal yields from 25 to 35 year old vines, the diligent work of the people in the vineyard and in the cellar form the ingredients for this extraordinary Cuvee, which will be different every year, but always unique.

'Appius' is an assemblage of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon. It inspires with brilliant finesse, coupled with multilayered ripe fruit and creamy minerality. The promising Cuvee bears the signature of Hans Terzer and is a guarantee for a fantastic drinking pleasure even after many years. - Gerardo [TS06/20]

Note: The motif on the label and the wooden crate of the Appius change every year and may therefore differ from the illustration.

Kellerei Girlan, South Tyrol

A bottle of Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Ganger in a high quality original wooden box:

Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Ganger is intense ruby red in color. On the nose, hints of wild berries, sour cherries and raspberries, underlined by a light note of marzipan. The palate is elegant and refined, with well-integrated acidity and spice. This Pinot Noir has a delicate yet complex structure and soft tannins. A wine in a class of its own, to accompany meats, roasts and game on high feast days. - Gerardo [TS06/19]

"Shiny medium dense ruby with garnet. Opens on the nose with a carpet of oriental spices, ground coriander seeds, behind that juicy fresh raspberries, some pomegranate. Lots of appealing juicy fruit on the palate, of raspberries and cranberries, opens with fine-mesh tannin, very good tension, long finish of cranberries." - Falstaff

"So youthful for almost 4 years old, this has an incredibly deep nose of forest berries, savory notes and flint. What an imposing stature and remarkable structure, the generous tannins so fine that you could spend an hour studying just the texture of this masterpiece. Enormously long, plush finish, the new oak already completely absorbed. Only just beginning to open up. The best vintage ever of this wine! Drinkable now, but best from 2024." - James Suckling

Lilium Est · Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2010 (1er Holzkiste)

Tenuta Sant Antonio's top amarone is among the best of the best from Valpolicella: balsamic, almost iodine notes on the nose, flanked by typical fruit aromas of ripe cherries, plums and wild berries. Underlined by spicy aromas of star anise, cinnamon, vanilla and black pepper. Still dry on the palate, yet warm and soft, supported by measured acidity and rounded tannins. - Gerardo [TS08/11]

´Flaccianello della Pieve´ · Colli Toscana Centrale IGT 2020, Fontodi, Toskana
Flaccianello della Pieve · Colli Toscana Centrale IGT 2020 (Bio)

Fontodi, Tuscany

Fontodi's Flaccianello della Pieve is one of the great classics of Tuscany and one of the first single-varietal Sangiovese to achieve worldwide fame. It is a Sangiovese assemblage from several sites, which has enormous richness, concentration, power and warmth. On the nose of red and black fruits, Mediterranean scrub, coffee and chocolate. On the palate of substance and finesse, which only reach a relaxed, pleasant stage with aging. - Gerardo [TS01/21]

"A special red and for us a great wine is the Flaccianello della Pieve, in which the Sangiovese vine shows all its elegance. The fine aromatic overture leads to a taut taste with crisp tannins and straightforward finish. A bottle with the powerful and sunny disposition of the Panzano terroir, which will be even more splendidly displayed in a few years." - Slow Wine

"Very intense and bright ruby red. On the nose notes of classic violets, Amarena cherry, ethereal and spicy nuances. Powerful on the palate, warm of excellent body, with dense and well balanced tannins and good acidity component that supports the powerful flavor profile. Very long finish." - Doctor Wine (Daniele Cernilli)
"Rich, deep dark ruby. Compact, concentrated nose, showing notes of black truffle, blackberry, some black cherry, plus subtle balsamic tones. Powerful and gripping on the palate, showing grippy tannin in many layers, coated with lots of sweet melting, rich and long, a diamond in the rough that still needs to be polished by time." - Falstaff

"Bright ruby red. In the nose delicate cranberry, some cherry and noble spice, holds back overall. On the palate tightly and densely woven, yet very polished, very juicy in the course, very long and punchy on the finish, ends on slightly earthy notes, will age excellently." - Falstaff

´Mille e una Notte´ · C.E. MAGNUM DOC 2019 (1er Holzkiste), Donnafugata, Sizilien
Mille e una Notte · C.E. MAGNUM DOC 2019 (1er Holzkiste)

Donnafugata, Sicily

Mille e una Notte is the flagship of Donnafugata: the rich bouquet captivates with floral notes, balsamic hints and hints of tobacco. On the palate, of convincing individual character and good balance between the alcoholic component and the soft tannins. Without exaggeration, this Nero d'Avola is a wine like from a thousand and one nights. - Gerardo [TS06/20]

"Intense and impenetrable color. Mediterranean aroma with notes of dark olives, summer undergrowth and candied lemon. The palate is dense, muscular but with energy and verticality thanks to the refined tannins and good salinity. The finish is intense, spicy, catchy and very long lasting." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)
"Dark, elegant ruby red. On the nose of many ripe dark berries, underpinned by delicate spicy tones, a touch of precious wood and milk chocolate round out the bouquet. Very juicy on the palate with bright fruit, supported by grippy tannin, balsamic mineral touch, lightly earthy, pressured finish, good length." - Falstaff
