  The “Vigna Ganger” Pinot Noir Riserva from the Girlan Winery represents the quintessence of South Tyrolean Pinot Noir culture and is the winery's flagship wine. It comes from the single vineyard Mazon, one of the most prestigious cru for Pinot Noir in Italy, with calcareous clay soils and a western exposure at about 360 to 430 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested by hand, with one-fifth fermented as whole clusters. After 25 days of fermentation in stainless steel tanks, malolactic fermentation takes place, followed by 20 months of aging in barriques and a further 18 months of bottle aging. This elaborate process gives the wine complexity and aging potential.

In the glass, Vigna Ganger presents itself in a deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The bouquet unfolds aromas of ripe forest fruits, sour cherries, and raspberries, accompanied by floral notes and a hint of marzipan. On the palate, it is elegant and refined, with a full structure, silky tannins, and lively acidity. The finish is long and mineral. This Pinot Noir Riserva is an ideal accompaniment to main courses of red meat, roasts, and game, as well as mature cheeses.
