Abruzzo | Wine region
Abruzzo presents itself as a hilly, sometimes wildly romantic mountain landscape, whose sun-drenched vineyards stretch from the interior to the Adriatic Sea. Enclosed by both the sea and the mountains, the region's unique geographical location offers ideal climatic conditions for viticulture. Here, tradition and nature combine in a unique way, making viticulture an integral part of the regional culture.
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, an excellent red wine and the region's best-known grape variety, is particularly closely associated with the rather conservative winegrowers of Abruzzo. Among the white wines, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and Pecorino stand out in particular. Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, the region's only DOC rosé, has also earned itself a firm place. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which comes from various areas of origin and delights in numerous forms, deserves a chapter of its own. - Gerardo [TS12/25]
"If there is a region in Italy that the internationalization and globalization of wines has passed by almost without a trace, it is Abruzzo." - Gambero Rosso
