  The Pinot Bianco “Abtei” from the Muri-Gries monastery winery is an elegant combination of monastic tradition and alpine terroir: the grapes thrive in the monastery's own vineyards around Eppan on limestone and gravel-rich soils at altitudes that combine cool nights with sunny days — ideal conditions for structure and origin. Careful hand harvesting, fermentation partly in stainless steel and partly in large wooden barrels, and quiet storage on the fine lees characterize the vinification as well as the clear style: fruit remains present, structure becomes noticeable.

In the glass, this Pinot Blanc displays a strong straw yellow color with delicate greenish reflections — a visual indication of its vitality. The nose reveals ripe pear, apple, and subtle hints of pepper and yogurt among the central aromas, complemented by a fine minerality that makes the terroir palpable. On the palate, juicy fruitiness combines with elegant depth, lively texture, and a stylish length — a wine that works excellently as an accompaniment to delicate poultry or fish dishes, or simply expresses its origin in style on its own. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
