Berta Grappa Monprà from Piedmont is a barrel-aged, elegant grappa that reflects the rich wine-growing culture of this historic Italian region in every drop. In the glass, it displays a warm golden to light amber color, which already makes its longer wood aging and the influence of barrique aging visually apparent. On the nose, Monprà delights with a complex bouquet in which aromas of ripe fruit and raisins combine with soft notes of vanilla and cocoa—a fragrance that comes from Barbera and Nebbiolo pomace, the typical grapes of the Langhe and Monferrato in Piedmont, from which many of the region's great red wines are made. This harmonious aroma, carried by a subtle wood note, lays the foundation for the multi-layered character of this pomace brandy.
On the palate, the grappa is powerful yet smooth, with a well-integrated, soft texture that harmoniously combines fruit, spice, and wood. The finish is long, warm, and persistent, with a sweetness reminiscent of grain sugar and some spicy accents characteristic of the region and barrique aging. The name Monprà has a special significance, rooted in Piedmontese tradition and referring to the cultivation of Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes in the sunny hills around Alba — an area known not only for its world-class wines but also for its art of distillation.
