Amarone della Valpolicella is a fascinating phenomenon of Italian wine culture - even though its success story is still relatively young compared to other great red wines of the country. Amarone owes its uniqueness to a traditional and elaborate production process known as the appassimento method. The carefully selected grapes - primarily the Corvina variety, supplemented by Rondinella, Molinara and Corvinone - are dried for several months after harvesting. This process causes the berries to lose most of their water and gain concentration. The result is a wine of exceptional density, aromatic depth and elegant structure.
