Barolo | Classic

Barolo is one of the most famous and long-lived wines of Italy and has always enjoyed undisputed prestige. These advantages derive from the Nebbiolo grapes used, the unique location of the Langhe soils and the know-how of the winemakers. The small production area includes the municipalities of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba and partially other areas. The production is under the careful control of the Consorzio della Protezione (Protection Consortium), which also takes care of technological innovation. For Barolo there has always been a fixed circle of consumers who are inclined to a wine that invites contemplation. A bottle of Barolo is a gift that honors both the giver and the recipient. A way to identify with refinement. - Gerardo

'The Barolo Sarmassa possesses more vibrancy, depth and freshness than the Cannubi. A powerful, fleshy Barolo, it offers plenty of dark cherries, plums, spices, tar and menthol, with an engaging personality. Barolo Vigna Arborina DOCG 2016, Renato Corino, Piemont
Barolo Vigna Arborina DOCG 2016

Renato Corino, Piedmont

The vines of 'Vigna Arborina' come from a planting of 1968, in one of the best sites in La Morra. The intense color is garnet red with orange reflections. An intense, ethereal red wine, with memorable aromas of dried roses and violets. Pleasantly acidic and tannic, the flavors unfold with aging, revealing a wine of wonderful complexity, complexity and balance. - Gerardo

'Almost the same refinement as the Rocche reveals the complex, balsamic Vigneto Arborina with a wonderful structure.' - Gambero Rosso

'Very ripe strawberry aromas, with hints of violet and black licorice. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and beautiful ripe fruit. Long and beautiful. There's so much there.' - Wine Spectator

'The Barolo Vigna Arborina presents a very typical profile of candied cherries, menthol, spices and sweet toasted oak. Initially quite clenched, the wine opens beautifully with air, revealing terrific depth and the firmer tannins that are characteristic of this site. This perfumed, fresh Barolo still needs at least another few years in bottle to come together. It is made from a southwest facing plot in the vineyard.' - Wine Advocate

Barolo Riserva MAGNUM DOCG 2013 (1er Holzkiste), Renato Corino, Piemont
Barolo Riserva MAGNUM DOCG 2013 (1er Holzkiste)

Renato Corino, Piedmont

The Nebbiolo grapes for Renato's Barolo Riserva come from the single vineyard Vecchie Vigne, whose planting dates back to 1960. After maceration for 7 days, the wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, followed by two years of bottle aging. Renato Corino is extremely consistent in weighing vintage qualities and develops his Barolo into a Riserva only in the very best years. Waiting times of more than five years are therefore not uncommon.

In the glass, this modern Barolo shows an intense garnet red color. In the fragrance of violets, cherry fruit and cloves. Accompanied by wood tones such as cigar box and tobacco and subtle ethereal notes. Full-bodied and rich on the palate, always fresh and elegant. Silky smooth tannins and long finish. - Gerardo
