In 1956 a group of Sardinian winemakers founded the Cantina del Vermentino, it is located in the mountains around Monti, in the heart of Gallura. The 350 members specialize in the production of the namesake Vermentino the Gallura, ensuring the quality and aging of this stylish and elegant wine.
Since its foundation, the Cantina's primary goal has been to make Vermentino di Gallura known throughout the world. The altitudes around Monti, with their great differences between day and night temperatures and the constant winds, contribute to the development of the important, invigorating fruit acids and the maturation of intense aromas in the wines.
The poor and weathered granite soils force the vines to root deeply, which is accompanied by the incorporation of particularly numerous minerals in the grapes. The white wine Vermentino di Gallura has a winning mentality. Not to be left unmentioned are the fruity red wines from Cannonau and other local varieties. - Gerardo [TS02/23]

Worthy red wine cuvee from the four native grape varieties Cannonau, Pascale, Malaga and Monica. Of intense ruby color in the glass. The aroma is appealing of ripe berries. The palate is dry and full-bodied, with present tannins and some fruit acidity. - Gerardo [TS02/23]

Aghilóia is bright straw yellow color. On the nose it is fine and pronounced with typical fruity notes and some bitter almond. The palate is dry, soft and round, with a pleasant silky finish and fine minerality. - Gerardo [TS02/24]

Galana · Rosso dei Colli del Limbara IGT 2018Cantina del Vermentino, Sardegna
The top wine from the Cantina del Vermentino is a blend of Cabernet-Sauvignon, Sangiovese (which has always been grown in Sardinia) and the two indigenous grape varieties Carignano and Cagnulari. Depending on the vintage, other red Sardinian complementary grapes are sometimes added. Galana was first released with the 1997 vintage and ages for a minimum of 13 months in wooden barrels and another 10 months in bottle.
