Prosecco Cartizze | Classic
Cartizze is not just a name, but also a style with captivating expressiveness and charisma. Due to the warmer location—the snow melts much earlier in Cartizze than elsewhere—the grapes ripen particularly well. The soils of sandstone, moraine deposits, and clay form another building block of the Cartizze terroir. And you can taste it.
The genuine Prosecco Cartizze seems a little clumsy at first due to its slightly higher residual sugar content, but immediately impresses with its noble finesse, earthiness, and minerality. This premier class of Prosecco not only scores with its lively fruitiness, but also has excitement and elegance. The interplay of acidity and sweetness, the minerality and structure make it a pleasure to drink. A Cartizze lingers on the palate for a long time.
The addition of Cartizze denotes the most sought-after, extremely rare, and high-quality Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore. A comparison of the cultivation areas alone illustrates the value of this special Prosecco: The Cartizze area covers 106 hectares of vineyards, while the total cultivation area of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG is around 6,100 hectares. It should be noted that Cartizze is being compared here with the already very high-quality DOCG appellation and not with the simpler DOC variants, whose cultivation area is many times larger.
Cartizze has its own unique aura, as this sparkling wine is nothing less than the origin of Prosecco. It is considered the king of sparkling wines from the hills and mountains in the Valdobbiadene and Conegliano area in the province of Treviso, north of Venice. With Cartizze, the yield limit is halved, and the steep slopes mean that much more effort is required. The location, soil, climate, and legal requirements make this Prosecco something very special. - Gerardo [TS08/24]
