The Aleatico grape variety is one of the traditional indigenous varieties of southern Italy and plays a particularly important role in the production of high-quality sweet wines. It finds ideal conditions particularly in Apulia, on the Tuscan islands such as Elba, as well as in Lazio and Umbria. It is characterized by its intense aroma, its good adaptability to warm climates and its wide range of uses - from passito wines to rosato and sparkling wines. Despite its potential, Aleatico is still little known internationally.
