Ribolla Gialla | Grape variety

The ancient autochthonous grape variety Ribolla Gialla is native to Friuli and Slovenia and has been known since 1300. The grape variety is grown almost entirely in the hilly area between Italy and Slovenia, from Tarcento to Karst and Istria. Ribolla is used for the production of single-varietal white wines, which are characterized by their present acidity and floral bouquet. Fermentation with the grape skins has been established to give the wine more structure. Ribolla Gialla is one of the classic aperitif wines and appetizer accompaniments of the Collio. - Gerardo [TS06/23]
