Ribolla Gialla | Grape variety

The ancient autochthonous grape variety Ribolla Gialla is native to Friuli and Slovenia and has been known since 1300. The grape variety is grown almost entirely in the hilly area between Italy and Slovenia, from Tarcento to Karst and Istria. Ribolla is used for the production of single-varietal white wines, which are characterized by their present acidity and floral bouquet. Fermentation with the grape skins has been established to give the wine more structure. Ribolla Gialla is one of the classic aperitif wines and appetizer accompaniments of the Collio. - Gerardo [TS06/23]

"The white wine variety Ribolla, with full name Ribolla Gialla, is one of the oldest grape varieties in Italy, it is first mentioned by name under the name Rabola in 1296. Documentary is a dispute of March 20 of that year between Pope Boniface VIII, the Bishop of Trieste and the monastery of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice about a wine called Rabola." - Falstaff

´Biancosesto´ · Friuli Colli Orientali DOP 2021, La Tunella, Friaul
Biancosesto · Friuli Colli Orientali DOP 2021

La Tunella, Friuli

Biancosesto is a great white wine with a refined and elegant bouquet of small pastries, vanilla and acacia flowers, mixed with lively and fresh notes of fruit and white flowers. The palate is delicate and full, but at the same time agile and tasty. It is a wine with great personality, which in its long finish recalls the typical characteristics of its grape varieties of origin: the light almond of Friulano and the fresh sensations of Ribolla.

The autochthonous grape blend of Friulano and Ribolla Gialla is the most awarded wine of La Tunella. Year after year this white wine wins international awards. No wonder: the great care, slow maturation as well as the aging make it a refined white wine of great quality. - Gerardo [TS06/22]

"Sparkling rich straw yellow with green nuances. Finely marked nose, opens with notes of grapefruit, fresh peach and thyme. Round and well balanced on the palate, juicy fruit, of apricot and peach, good tension on the finish." - Falstaff

"Grape varieties Friulano and Ribolla Gialla in equal parts. Aging on the lees in large oak barrels. Straw yellow color. On the nose, powerful and complex aromas of peach, mint, apple and magnolia flowers. On the palate it is convincing, complex, long, salty, velvety, fresh, floral and fruity. Of great drinkability." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)

"Even better, however, was the BiancoSesto, a blend of Friulano and Ribolla gialla, now the advertising medium for La Tunella: slightly smoky and mineral its bouquet; juicy and spicy taste." - Gambero Rosso

´Vintage Tunina´ · Bianco Venezia Giulia IGT 2020, Jermann, Friaul
Vintage Tunina · Bianco Venezia Giulia IGT 2020

Jermann, Friuli

Vintage Tunina is an evergreen from Friuli, a noble blend of grapes whose vines thrive on marl and sandstone soils. These soils, originating from the Eocene flysch formation, have been transformed into the “ponca” typical of the region.

The wine has a bright straw-yellow color with a golden sheen. Its intense bouquet seduces with elegant aromas of honey and meadow flowers, which impress with their great persistence. On the palate, it is dry, soft and exceptionally harmonious, supported by a full body that ensures excellent length. It harmonizes perfectly with starters with truffles, fish dishes from the oven or with sauces as well as with white meat. The combination with fresh salmon stuffed with Parmesan cheese and artichokes is particularly successful. - Gerardo [TS01/21]

"Straw yellow with green reflections. On the nose aromas of citrus, aroatic herbs, banana, apple, mango, passion fruit and carob. The palate combines density, fruity notes, structure, fresh acidity, elegance and length." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)

"Bright golden yellow with light greenish reflections. Elegant and fragrant nose. Notes of white peach, apricot, orange, tangerine leaves and sage. The palate is lively, fresh and with good acidity, pleasant correspondence between nose and mouth, balanced and slightly spicy." - Falstaff

"It is worth highlighting that the grapes are already harvested together. The wine presents a sparkling straw yellow color with light golden tones; the aroma is intense, rich, of high elegance and persistent, we detect notes of honey and field flowers. On the palate it is dry, soft, very harmonious, very persistent in the finish, mainly due to its exceptionally full body. It is best enjoyed with truffle-based hors d'oeuvres, and of course with fish dishes, preferably from the cane and accompanied by a fine sauce, but dishes with white meat also go well. I found it exquisite with a salmon stuffed with parmesan and artichokes." - Daniele Cernilli
