Trattmann · Blauburgunder Riserva DOC 2021

  The “Trattmann” Pinot Noir Riserva from the Girlan Winery was first produced in 1980 and is an outstanding example of the fine art of Pinot Noir in South Tyrol. The grapes come from the best and oldest vineyards in the Bassa Atesina and Überetsch regions, particularly from the eastern side of the Bassa Atesina at altitudes between 380 and 430 meters above sea level, where deep clay and limestone soils offer ideal conditions for this demanding grape variety. After hand harvesting, maceration takes place with gravity filling in stainless steel tanks, followed by 15 months of aging in small and large wooden barrels and a further 8 months of bottle aging.

In the glass, the “Trattmann” displays a bright ruby red color with garnet red reflections. The bouquet is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe cherries, sour cherries, and maraschino, accompanied by spicy notes and a hint of cedar. On the palate, the wine is elegant and well-structured, with fine tannins and lively acidity that give it remarkable freshness. The finish is long and harmonious. This Pinot Noir Riserva is a prime example of the quality and potential of South Tyrolean Pinot Noir wines. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
