  The “Graf Meraner Schickenburg” from the Meran Winery symbolizes the authentic profile of South Tyrolean Vernatsch, deeply rooted in the historic single vineyard “Schickenburg” near Marling. On humus-rich, slightly loamy sandy soils, where Vernatsch vines have been cultivated for generations, a light ruby red color emerges—a sign of the light structure and alpine origin. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel and biological acid reduction, the wine matures in a harmonious alternation of oak and steel barrels, giving it a successful interplay of freshness and gentle wood notes.

In the glass, the wine reveals a delicate bouquet: subtle hints of violets and almonds, later underpinned by cherry and light herbal notes, transporting the bouquet to a summer terrace in the Merano region. On the palate, the Schickenburg is lively and accessible, with a juicy fruit core and elegant accompaniment of fine-grained tannins; a wine whose friendly vitality pairs just as stylishly with bacon and cheese platters as it does with light meat dishes or convivial evenings. - Gerardo [TS10/24]
