Sturm | Friuli
Three generations, one goal: strong wines from Friuli. In 1800, the Sturm family, coming from the Austrian village of Andritz, settled in this area and made Slovenian their mother tongue. These origins are still remembered today by the wines from the house Sturm with the nickname 'Andritz'. In 1850, in Zegla, in the hills of the Collio, the Sturm farm was born. For more than two centuries the passion for the art of wine has been handed down from generation to generation, from father to son, until our time, when we meet Oscar Sturm and his sons. The area planted with vines is 10 hectares, all owned by the family. - Gerardo
"Zegla consists of a series of mountain slopes that stretch from Collio Friulano up to Slovenia. The shelter of the hills creates an ideal microclimate for the cultivation of vines. The Sturm family from the Austrian village of Andritz settled here in 1850. In more recent times, it was left to Oscar Sturm to recognize the special suitability of the terroir and to build this winery, which he now runs together with his sons Denis and Patrick. The two only sparked the real energy storm, with which they brought the company in the front line cellar Friuli in position.
The responsibility for the production has taken Patrick, despite his youth. Temperamental and decisive, he demands top results from himself and others in the business. For the external presentation and the development of new goals, on the other hand, Denis is responsible, who Bocconiani Institute has taken his business administration exam." - Gambero Rosso

An important aspect, for a whole series of operations and precise controls. These are carried out throughout the production cycle until marketing, as a guarantee of high quality wine from the house Sturm. From the soil conditions, the areas are composed of sandy marl of Eocene origin, these soils are particularly suitable for viticulture. The grapes are harvested and sorted strictly by hand to protect their integrity and particular organoleptic characteristics. Sturm wines are characterized by harmonious aging in stainless steel tanks as well as French oak barrels, which are used in a well-proportioned manner. - Gerardo
"The Sturm family from the Austrian Andritz settled in Zegla already around 1850. The founder of the estate is Oscar, a descendant of Pepi and Lojza, but in the meantime his young sons Denis and Patrick run the farm in perfect unison. Patrick, the younger of the two, has learned quickly and taken responsibility over production, while Denis, since graduating in economics, is in charge of administration and his father gives Oscar a hand in the vineyard when needed." - Gambero Rosso
