Friulano | Grape variety
Friulano (formerly Tocai Friulano, also called Sauvignonasse or Sauvignon Vert) is a grape variety best known for its role in the white wines of Friuli in northeastern Italy. These mostly varietal wines are lively and fruity with notes of citrus, flowers and almonds, often with a hint of minerality.
The variety has no known connection to Sauvignon Blanc (unlike the color mutation Sauvignon Gris). Wines from this varietal are more aromatic, with a stronger character of gooseberries and black currants.
Friulano is known for producing light to medium-bodied dry wines with characteristic orange and marzipan fruit flavors, high alcohol and relatively low acidity. Aromas of wild meadow flowers, almond blossoms and ripe white fruits are followed by aromas of pear, peach and tropical fruits, with some citrus notes, a touch of honey and a very typical almond finish. It can also show mineral notes, as well as nutty elements, herbs and a little spice. - Gerardo

Biancosesto Friuli Colli Orientali DOP 2020La Tunella, Friuli
Biancosesto is a great white wine with a refined and elegant bouquet of small pastries, vanilla and acacia flowers, mixed with lively and fresh notes of fruit and white flowers. The palate is delicate and full, but at the same time agile and tasty. It is a wine with great personality, which in its long finish recalls the typical characteristics of its grape varieties of origin: the light almond of Friulano and the fresh sensations of Ribolla.
