The Riserva 18.46 Grappa di Barbera e Dolcetto Invecchiata represents the accomplished result of centuries-old distillation art paired with an uncompromising quality philosophy that tolerates no shortcuts. Serving as the basis for this noble distillate are exclusively strictly selected pomace of the character-strong Barbera and the fruit-forward Dolcetto grape, which are subjected to a particularly slow and gentle distillation process to preserve their full aromatic potential. The subsequent refinement takes place over a period of at least 18 months in a sophisticated combination of French oak barriques and traditional chestnut wood barrels—a dual aging process that lends the grappa not only its amber robe but also incomparable depth, complex structure, and timeless elegance.
The mysterious name '18.46' acts as a symbolic key to its creation: While the number 18 refers to the months of patience during storage, 46 stands for the limited number of barrels reserved exclusively for this rare cuvée in the cool, historical vaults of Mazzetti d’Altavilla. On the nose, a beguiling bouquet unfolds with intense notes of sweet vanilla, exotic spices, and ripe dried fruits, before the grappa presents itself on the palate as full-bodied, extraordinarily smooth, and with perfect balance.
