Primitivo di Manduria | Grape variety
The Primitivo di Manduria grape variety takes its name from the town of Manduria in the southern Italian region of Puglia. This is located in the northern part of the Salento region, in the middle of the Primitivo di Manduria production area, which extends over the provinces of Taranto and Brindisi. Primitivo di Manduria was recognized as a DOC wine as early as 1974, and in 2011 Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale became the first wine in Puglia to receive DOCG classification. Primitivo di Manduria is generally a little more fruity and delicate than the other Primitivo varieties, due to the terroir of the growing area. - Gerardo [TS02/23]
