Caparzo | Toskana
Tenuta Caparzo is a traditional winery with outstanding significance for viticulture in Montalcino. Caparzo was already setting trends in the 1970s - for example with the famous “La Casa”, one of the first single-varietal Brunello wines, which was also matured in small barriques, which was considered groundbreaking at the time. Equally influential was the creation of “Ca' del Pazzo”, the first so-called Super Tuscan from Montalcino, which broke new ground beyond the DOCG rules and expanded the diversity of styles in the region.
Another milestone was “La Caduta”, which raised the category of Rosso di Montalcino to a new level of quality in the 1990s by being the first of its kind to be produced exclusively from single-vineyard grapes - with a standard that is in no way inferior to that of a Brunello. Since 1998, the winery has been under the management of Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, a dynamic personality from Rome who focuses on quality, terroir and identity with great vision and passion. Under her leadership, Caparzo remains a shining example of the combination of Tuscan tradition and modern wine culture. - Gerardo [TS05/25]
"A growing brand thanks to the considerable investments of recent years; total renovation of the barrel storage and barrique cellar, a new external wine consultant, renewal of part of the vineyards, in short, almost a revolution. The plots are mainly located in the north-east of Montalcino, but the winery owns some particularly valuable cru vineyards. Montosoli in the north, a beautiful tufa soil in Castelgiocondo and a few hectares in the Sesta area represent a fantastic asset. The wines include classic and traditional wines as well as innovative ones, among which Brunello di Montalcino La Casa is the true master." - Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine)

Sangiovese Tocana IGT 2024Caparzo, Tuscany
The Sangiovese Toscana is a project close to Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini's heart and marks an important milestone in the history of her wineries. While Caparzo, Borgo Scopeto and Doga delle Clavule each produce outstanding wines in their own right, a unifying element has been missing until now - a wine that combines the essence of all three estates. The Sangiovese Toscana IGT makes this idea a reality: a cuvée that combines the geographical diversity, the different terroirs and the...

Cà del Pazzo · Rosso Toscana DOCG 2021Caparzo, Tuscany
The name Cà del Pazzo goes back to historical maps showing the village that is now called Caparzo. This ancient name was given to a special wine made from a careful selection of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The grapes come from the best vineyards in Caparzo and San Piero Caselle and reflect the diversity and depth of the terroir. The wine was first vinified in 1982 and is considered one of the first true Supertuscans from the Brunello region - a pioneer in its...

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020Caparzo, Tuscany
The first vintage of Brunello di Montalcino Caparzo dates back to 1970, a time when the situation of the appellation was completely different from today. At that time, there were only 13 wineries in Montalcino, making Caparzo one of the historic wineries in Brunello production. The special feature of Caparzo's Brunello di Montalcino is certainly the origin of the...

Vigna la Casa · Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020Caparzo, Tuscany
Caparzo's Brunello di Montalcino Vigna la Casa can be considered a true oenological jewel, and not only in Montalcino: the first vintage of Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa was 1977. At that time, little was known about the terroir and little attention was paid to the concept of zoning, which had only been introduced in Montalcino in recent years. Caparzo was once again a pioneer by producing one of the first 'single vineyard' Brunello di Montalcino in one of the most privileged vineyards in the...

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 1980Caparzo, Tuscany
Caparzo's Brunello di Montalcino 1980 is much more than just a wine - it is a witness to time, a living testament and a symbol of the deep connection between our family and Tuscan wine culture. Caparzo was the first Tuscan winery that my father chose for our range. This decision not only marked the beginning of a special partnership, but also the birth of a central chapter in the history of our...
