Abruzzo | Wine region
Abruzzo is a hilly and sometimes wildly romantic mountain landscape. The sunlit vineyards extend from the inland to the Adriatic Sea. This region, enclosed by both the sea and the mountains, is ideal for viticulture due to its particular geography and the favorable climatic conditions that accompany it. Closely linked to the rather conservative winegrowers of this Italian region, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, an excellent red wine and the main variety of the area, has always been produced. Among the white wines, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and Pecorino are the most popular. Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is the only DOC Rosato of the area. A chapter in itself is the long-established Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from different areas of origin and numerous expressions. - Gerardo
"If there is a region in Italy that the internationalization and globalization of wines has passed by almost without a trace, it is Abruzzo." - Gambero Rosso
