Puglia | White Wine

On 88,000 hectares of vineyards grow many autochthonous grape varieties, these are particularly cared for and cultivated. The most widely grown grape variety is Negroamaro. Grown almost exclusively in Puglia, Negroamaro is used for some of the region's best wines, such as Salice Salentino. However, the title for the most famous grape goes to Primitivo, whose wines, like Primitivo di Manduria, are usually high in alcohol and have a strong body. Interestingly, the Primitivo grape shares its genetic makeup with that of California's Zinfandel variety. In Puglia, white wines account for less than 20 percent of total production, but the trend is increasing. Local grape varieties such as Bombino Bianco, Bianco d'Alessano and Verdeca are found right alongside international varieties such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon, producing excellent results. Italy is the largest wine producer in the world, and this is largely thanks to Puglia, which produces more wine than any other Italian region.

Although Puglia is mainly known for powerful and velvety red wines, numerous white grape varieties also thrive in the southern Italian region. The wines made from them are fresh, characterized by moderate to low acidity and balanced flavor. Among the most famous grape varieties of Italy's south are Verdeca, Bianco d'Alessano, Bombino Bianco and Trebbiano Toscano. But also Chardonnay and Sauvignon are often grown in Puglia and achieve good results. - Gerardo [TS07/22]

"In the statistics of annual wine production, Puglia occupies the second place in Italy, with a constant predominance of reds and rosés over whites. On the other hand, the white wine sector is currently in a significant growth phase from a qualitative and quantitative point of view." - Slow Wine

It pairs perfectly with seafood, poultry and salads, asparagus in spring and fresh pasta such as spinach ravioli in summer." - Mark Shannon

Minù is a pure Minutolo that macerates for 4 days on the skins in steel silos. It is the result of Vètrere's desire to explore the infinite variations of Minutolo, an autochthonous Apulian grape variety with which the company has been working and experimenting for 15 years. Martina, the oenologist of the winery, after her studies and intense practice in the Vetrère vineyards, has acquired a deep knowledge of the terroir and of this wonderful grape variety that allows her to take on this ambitious challenge of creating Minù.
