A family winery with tradition
The Fuligni family winery, owned by the Fuglini family since 1923, is located in a small Renaissance monastery courtyard and is run with great seriousness by its dedicated owners. The current owners, the worldly-wise Professor Roberto Guerrini-Fuglini and his aunt Maria Flora Fuligni, have lovingly restored the old buildings to preserve the aesthetic clarity of the 16th century. The tasting rooms are extremely attractively designed and leave nothing to be desired.

Quality wines from our own vineyards
The estate's wines come from around ten hectares of its own vineyards. Their labels may seem strange at first glance, but the lion of San Marco is an integral part of the family coat of arms and refers to the family's Venetian roots.

Elegant wines with character
The owners and their oenologist Paolo Vaggagini strive for an elegant style of wine that is not overly heavy. This style is perfectly suited to the soils of the vineyard sites, which are rich in pebbles and contain little organic material, which keeps yields low. This effect is further enhanced by extensive 'green harvesting' and radical pruning to improve quality. In this way, the grapes for a classic Brunello thrive in vineyards that lie between 350 and 440 meters above sea level.

Variety of grape varieties
A few hectares of Merlot have been replanted on slightly lower and richer soils. This is needed for the 'S.J.', a modern Sangiovese/Merlot cuvée. A velvety, full-bodied wine that is only partially matured in barriques and is already a great pleasure to drink at a young age.

Traditional craftsmanship
The Rosso di Montalcino 'Ginestreto' is similar in character and style, but is made exclusively from Sangiovese and, after six months in French tonneaux, matures for an equally long time in large Slavonian barrels to emphasize its youthful fruitiness.

The legendary Brunello Riserva
The winery's reputation is based above all on the Brunello Riserva, which comes from vineyards around the village of Cottimeli. Half of it matures in tonneaux and the other half traditionally in large barrels. However, wine connoisseurs generally stop thinking about winemaking techniques when they have it in their glass: Fuligni's Brunello is a prime example of the fact that a good Brunello is not only powerful, but above all exudes sophistication. - Gerardo [TS04/24]
