Lareith · Lagrein Riserva DOC 2022

  The “Lareith” Lagrein Riserva from the Kaltern Winery is an expressive red wine that masterfully showcases the characteristics of the Lagrein grape. The grapes thrive in the vineyards around Lake Kaltern, where the loamy limestone gravel soils and temperate climate provide ideal conditions for the ripening of this indigenous grape variety. After harvesting, maceration takes place at 28°C for two weeks, followed by malolactic fermentation in barriques, a third of which are new. The wine then matures for twelve months in these barriques, giving it additional complexity and structure.

In the glass, the “Lareith” Lagrein Riserva presents itself in a deep, dark red with violet reflections. The bouquet unfolds complex aromas of ripe berries, blackberries, and cherries, accompanied by earthy notes and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, the wine is dense and creamy, with fine-grained tannins and a long, harmonious finish. This Lagrein Riserva is an excellent accompaniment to hearty dishes such as game, roasts, or mature hard cheeses, and is also ideal for further aging. - Gerardo [TS10/23]
