Quintessenz · Sauvignon DOC 2018

  The “Quintessenz” Sauvignon from the Kaltern Winery is a masterpiece of South Tyrolean winemaking that impressively showcases the elegance and expressiveness of this grape variety. The grapes come from the best vineyards around Lake Kaltern, where calcareous gravel soils and the mild climate offer ideal conditions for growing Sauvignon Blanc. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature. Aging on the fine lees in large wooden and concrete tanks gives the wine additional complexity and structure.

In the glass, the “Quintessenz” Sauvignon presents itself in a brilliant yellow with greenish reflections. The bouquet unfolds aromas of ripe gooseberries, peaches, and a hint of herbs. On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with a fine minerality and a long, elegant finish. This Sauvignon Blanc is an excellent accompaniment to asparagus dishes, grilled fish, or Mediterranean appetizers and reflects the high level of craftsmanship of the Kaltern winery. - Gerardo [TS10/19]
