The grapes for this Valpolicella come from 10-year-old vineyards near Monte del Drago. The result is a red wine of medium weight, fine elegance and balance. To be sure, the Valpolicella name still suffers from the region's misdeeds in the 1980s and 1990s. However, producers like Musella prove that an everyday wine doesn't have to be a sweet, thin infusion. From the new denomination 'Cannonau di Sardegna DOC Classico' comes the 'Irilai' from the house Cantina di Oliena. For the grapes of this wine only the provinces of Ogliastra and Nuoro are allowed, the aging period is 2 years, of which at least 12 months in wooden barrels.

Several historical testimonies prove that this sweet wine has been produced since ancient times. Thus, as early as 1494, Georges de Challant offered Moscato Passito from Chambave to the King of France Charles VIII. The best yellow muscat grapes are dried in special, well-ventilated rooms. The soils of Monti in Chianti, calcareous clay of medium structure and the perfect location of the hill of Montebello give this wine strength and elegance.
