Flora · Cabernet-Merlot Riserva Cuvée DOC 2021

  The “Flora” Cabernet-Merlot Riserva from the Girlan Winery is a masterful cuvée made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot, which thrive in the hills of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 300 to 500 meters and benefit from mineral-rich soils that were sedimented during the Ice Age. After selective hand harvesting, the grapes are transported in small containers to avoid bruising. Fermentation takes place slowly in stainless steel tanks, followed by 20 months of aging in barriques, 50% of which are new. After blending, the wine ages for another eight months in the bottle before being released for sale.

In the glass, Flora presents itself in an intense ruby red. The bouquet unfolds aromas of ripe forest fruits, complemented by fine balsamic notes of rosemary and thyme. On the palate, the wine displays a powerful structure, harmoniously integrated tannins, and a pleasant freshness. The finish is long and characterized by mineral elegance. This Riserva pairs excellently with roasts, game dishes, and spicy cheeses. With a storage potential of over ten years, it continues to develop with age. - Gerardo [TS10/22]
