Pichl is the name for hills in the South Tyrolean vernacular. Chardonnay Pichl comes from vineyards at 300 - 400 meters above sea level. The highly refined wine matures for a long time on the fine lees, developing additional facets. It smells like an oriental naschmarkt of pineapple, bananas, vanilla, cookie and dried fruit. Despite all its creaminess, it tastes racy and fresh with lemon peel. The sweetish fruit is accompanied by a balsamic spiciness, subtly reminiscent of walnuts. - Gerardo [TS07/16]
