  The “Kirchhügel Cabernet Riserva” from the Kurtatsch Winery is an impressive expression of the Alpine Cabernet tradition in South Tyrol: The Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines are rooted in the steep south-east slopes of Kurtatsch - a microclimate with high sun intensity and permeable sandy and gravelly soils, enriched with dolomite and limestone minerals, which give the wine its concentrated depth. The vinification follows a clear concept: temperature-controlled fermentation in a rotary tank, followed by aging in French barriques and then storage in large wooden barrels - a process that gives the wine both muscle and finesse.

In the glass, the Cabernet Riserva displays a dense ruby red color with a slightly garnet rim—an indication of its maturity and definition. The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrants and blackberries, while the Cabernet Franc contributes spicy accents of pepper and mint—an exciting combination of fruit and herbal spice. On the palate, this fruit combines with a smooth texture and yet noticeable structure; a fine acidity gives the wine tension and noticeable aging potential.
